New Delhi: Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar said that ‘Labour’ comes under Concurrent list and Central and State Governments makes coordinated efforts for welfare of workers. He was addressing Regional Labour Conference in Bhubaneswar today. Labour Ministers and senior officials of six states Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Andaman & Nikobar along with senior officials of Labour Ministry participated in the conference.
Islamabad: The All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions(APFUTU) has demanded of the Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene for solution to problems of Contract Labour, Temporary Labour , Casual Labour and Precarious workers. In a letter, addressed to the prime minister, the APFUTU Secretary General Mr.Pirzada Imtiaz Syed, called for the elimination of Precarious Work, Contract Labour as well as temporary labour from the country. He said that the prime minister issue an ordinance regarding the elimination of precarious work, contract labour, temporary labour and casual labour as soon as possible. As the employers increase their profit and they decrease the salary of workers, moreover the workers have lose their legal rights i.e. social security, EOBI, pension as well as medical treatment etc.
Islamabad: The National Labour Federation (NLF) has demanded of the Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene for solution to problems of pensioners of the Employees of Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI). In a letter, addressed to the prime minister, the NLF President Shamsur Rehman, Swati, called for increase in EOBI pension from Rs13,000 to Rs17,500 per month. He called upon the prime minister to order issuance of notification
Layyah: Six labourers died while 15 others were injured when a Toyota Hiace overturned here on Friday. According to details, a Toyota Hiace carrying 23 labourers to Kot Sultan Nashaib for the cultivation of potato crop, got out of control due to speeding and turned turtle after hitting a building constructed at roadside at Jaisal Road near Makhni More in Chak No 164-TDA, Kot Sultan Layyah. Five labourers died.
